Artsy Fartsy

One of the things I loved the most were these artisan colored pencils. They make it for such cool studio/home/kids bedroom decor and are so much fun :-) I came back with 10 sets of 12 pencils with me :-) I might part with some, but still thinking about it...

We went to a covered market that had all these cool items for sale: clothes, shoes, nuts, LOTS of booze, maps burnt on leather, hats and all sorts of handmade stuff.

This one is to me the most interesting. This is cachaça (sugar cane liquor) aged with a crab in it. I had some cachaça, which goes down smooth and hits you in the head so fast you don't realize it, but I am not sure I would have the courage to drink this one. Good thing I wouldn't be able to go through customs with that in my carryon ;-)

I am still fighting this cold so bare with me as I get caught up with all your blogs updates!!!

Hi Ana. How interesting the cachaca with the crab in it. Wow, never had that before. Love all those colored pencils, they are awesome. Who puts them out? I would love to order some. It's always fun getting away for a little while. I think we are better for it. Hope your cold lets up. Take care and have a great rest of the week.

That cachaça looks gruesome! I don't think I'd have the courage to try it either. Take care of yourself.

Ooof...the cachaca with the crab in it freaks me out a little. I don't think I'd be able to drink that. These are beautiful photos, by the way; you are quite the photographer! Looking forward to seeing/reading more of your trip. I hope you feel better soon.

I LOVE those colored pencils... the photo reminds me of those jumbo boxes of crayons that we would get for going back to school...

Love the photos! The cachaca is quite impressive! Sort of like something you'd see in an old lab...creepy. Wait what am I saying we have mescal with a worm in it!

A crab in it? It kind of reminds me of a scene from Aliens, in the science lab! Love the colored pencils! You must play with them!

Take care of yourself! It is interesting how the normal in one culture is so abnormal in another? I can't imagine going into a liquor store in Canada and seeing bottles of booze with big crabs inside. Ha ha.

Wonderful photos and I'd never heard of the sugar cane liquor, being Cuban and all I'm surprised. I'd love to try it, even if it does look a bit intimidating. :)

Feel better! I've had the flu, too, and I'm just starting to breathe a little better now.

Wow, I've never seen liquor with animals in it. That's fascinating. Given that I like to try exotic food, I probably would have bought a bottle and give it a try. Looks like you've had great time!
