Hi guys, we have some bad news and some good news.
It turns out the mass is Shushu's liver is cancer... but the doctor is pretty certain the cancer is this non-agressive, non-spreading, very treatable type of cancer. I spoke to the surgeon today and he says that if it really is what they think it is (never 100% sure until biopsied), he said once they remove it, Shushu will live his normal life span.
Of course, I have been crying since last night (the doctor was very sweet and called at 10 pm to let us know the results and the surgeon spent a whole 15 minutes with me on the phone answering my questions). He will probably have surgery on the 8th. He will be in the hospital for 2 to 3 days because they are removing a lobe of his liver plus his spleen. All I can think is that I need my little buddy with me for a while longer...
I will be gone for a while taking care of my friend. But I will keep you posted on his recuperation.

I have been thinking of Shushu today and I'm glad you posted an update. It does sound promising -- what is that term? Guardedly optimistic. Well, I will optimistic for you all. Yes, you need your furfamily member now and for as long as possible. So, we'll work with that.
Do keep us posted. Lots of hugs, jeanie
Keep the faith. Our dog Sullie have cancer removed when he was 6 yrs old and he went on to live to be 14 ! I was devastated when they first told me and later so grateful for all the happy healthy years he went on to have with us .
Sending best wishes to Shushu for a successful surgery, a speedy recovery and many many more years of fun and love with you!
So sorry about your dog! I feel bad a bout animals being sick because they are just little loving angles that brings us so much fun and to see them suffer is really heartbreaking. Hope you both will go through this to a normal state!
I´m so sorry - I hope there´s good medication for him!

Sweetie don't worry! Our little friends are very strong and like you are saying the doctor said he can be ok. I learned a thing in life: don't worry by anticipation; it does you no good and by the time you need to have a clean head you are already tired from worrying so try to keep positive for you little friend and safe your strength for when it's needed (:
As you take care of your friend there is hope
That had to be encouraging news. I am sending only good thoughts for the little guy's successful surgery and quick recovery. Keep the faith.
My thoughts and prayers are with Shushu!! Thankfully like you said it's not an aggressive form. I wish shushu the speediest of recoveries :)
You and Shushu are in my warmest healing thoughts.
All the best for Shushu! Successful surgery, speedy recovery and many more loving years with you!
saying prayers for both of you! have faith Ana...
loved your calendar flower- it is like it pops off the page...so lovely!
Even though it was bad news, it had good news attached. Shushu will come through this with flying colors!
Hugs from Robin.
I'm glad that there are options for him to live a normal life span! one of my dogs had his leg amputated right before Christmas because of a bone tumor, and they said he had maybe 6 months to live. He's still toodling along just fine though! Take care of your little furry friend!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Shushu! Poor puppy! Big Hugs and take care!
Ana, I'm sending many prayers to sweet Shushu and I hope that it is what the doctor thinks it is so that Shushu can recover and get back to his happy self. I know very well the angst you're feeling right now...it's so very tough when someone we love is going through this. I also want to thank you so much for your very kind message about Ruby...we can both virtually hold each other's hands as we think/pray/love over our precious dogs, OK? {{{Hugs}}} xo
Sorry to hear that dear little Shushu will have to undergo surgery but it is encouraging to know that the cancer is a nonaggressive one and the prognosis looks very promising for a full recovery.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. :)
:(
Praying for a rapid return to health for your precious fur baby...a warm hug to you and darling Shushu...
