Shushu Update

I can finally give you guys an update on Shushu's status. Everything went well on the surgery. Little scare with a bleeding the surgeon was able to control. Liver lobe with tumor removed. Spleen with nodule removed and 2 nodules in the liver also biopsied. The surgeon does not think the nodules in the spleen and the 2 in the liver are cancerous. So I am very optimistic about his prognosis. I mean, we still need to wait for the pathology report, but I am being optimistic.

We were not able to see him yesterday, but we were able to see him today. It was amazing. He had not eaten yesterday or today, but my husband and I brought him his favorite chicken treat and he devoured that. He also ate his dry kibbles that we fed him one at a time.

We were pretty amazed how mobile he is considering the extent of his surgery. He was a bit agitated when we got there, but all of a sudden he came next to me and laid by my side, while I sang him the same lullaby my mom sang me when I was a little girl. And he slept for the time we were there. Peacefully. It was hard to leave him there, but we know he is getting the best medical care available. Honestly, I asked them if I could get my annual physical there.

I told my mom about all of you. I really did. She is a very spiritual woman and has such certainty of life beyond the material, about the positive thinking of one and many... She told me that I could be certain that all of you prayers, thoughts, positive thinking were getting to Shushu...

He will be coming home probably on Friday, but we want to be certain he is really good, because the spleen removal causes some irregular heart beat. His surgeon is this awesome guy and Shushu's cardiologist has been amazing, consulting with the surgeon to make sure he is ok.

You guys are AWESOME!!!!

Oh, Ana, I don't think I could be any happier for you! Jut a few days for the path report, but just to see him doing so well (and looking so adorable) -- well, that has to be a huge boost! It sounds like you have a wonderful vet, and yes -- it makes sense to leave him till any complications that could arise are past. Oh, I wish you could see the smile on my face! It's very big (with close to a happy tear, too!)

The power of prayer and positive energy played a big part!. Give him a big kiss for me!.. I know u can't wait to get him home!. Spoil that sweetie! :-)

I once had to leave my dog at the vet for a few days. I always kept wondering if she was doing okay mentally. Hurting and wondering if she'd ever come home again.

She was so happy to be back home when the time came.

Best wishes to your dog's recovery
