Art has life of its own

I am completely fascinated by the process of painting. I invariably hate my paintings when I first start painting them. My first desire is to tear the page and trash it.

But then, the painting brush just continues to do its work. It takes life of its own and it reveals itself.

I am studying a lot of artists that use a lot of layering and time to accomplish their pieces. And the process is captivating.

Hi Ana, beautiful painting :) Yes I can fully relate to the initially hating a piece of work but through a layering process fall in love with the same piece of work:)

I love to see the process come to life! Amazing flowers (:

Thankfully you have learned not to trust that first opinion for your end results are wonderful. Those flowers are beautiful.
Writing has that same--this is trash-- first opinion for me. Sadly in my case, rewriting (the writers form of layering) doesn't always help.

Nunca fui a pessoa mais paciente para pintar assim, mas sem dúvida que o processo ganha vida própria. Ando a tentar trabalhar a paciência (ainda sem sucesso). Esta está excelente! :)

Ana... your writing reminds me of a special I once saw about Picasso... he did a series of still photographs of a canvas on an easel... and documented the transformation. The versions and morphing of the work was phenomenal.

Of course, instead of tearing up the work, he just worked over it.

I love your work... I hope you will work with leaving some negative space in your work. I really like some of your 'unfinished' photos.

I would love to take a painting class someday and learn more about it.

Oh I love it! It really is neat to see this "bloom" over the many photos shown. Gorgeous!

Your paintings are fascinating. I love that you posted a process--I feel that way about every pen and ink I start. I always want to just tear it up, but I made a rule to at least get 75% through it before making any executive decisions. Lovely lovely lovely!

Well, despite what you may think about your paintings, I think they are wonderful and your layering technique is really working. I see such development in your work during the time I've followed you. It's lovely.

Thinking of Shushu...

I am tearful at this point, having two fluffy bundles myself, the oldest having stayed in hospital for an eye operation, I tell you it feels the same as when my children were small, the depth of feeling for these beautiful creatures! How wonderful that all of your friends gather around you in support, this is the magic of our online connections. Thank you for sharing your heart and lovely fluffy Shushu. x

You are such a talented artist! So many times when I create, I think, this is horrible, until, layer, upon layer, and everything appears ;o)

Ana, the orchids are gorgeous, so realistic, I feel I could go up to them and smell their fragrance.

I agree with Kyra - this is one of your finest . . . but you never fail to amaze me, each painting you do seems more magnificent than the ones before it. :)
