why I blog

Another watercolor for the "Birds" series

Yesterday, I started thinking what drives me to blog. Why it has become such an important part of my life.

Why do I spend time tending to it and why I feel so blessed when I read your comments.

I blog because in this space what I look like, where I live, what car I drive have no importance whatsoever.

In this space, it is what I think and my art that matter. In this space I write about what is essential to me.

One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye. ~ Antoine de Saint-Esupéry

Ana, I love your blog and appreciate your post about why you blog. I, too, am an introverted artist. I love to connect with people in ways that filter out the things that make me anxious. It is nice to know there are others who feel as I do.
Thank you for being courageous.

You're absolutely right! Blogging is about the essence of the blogger. Even when, like me sometimes, the blogger just posts recycled LOLcats and gags -- we're still revealing what our individual sense of humour is.

One of my favorite Little Prince quotes, and so true. Things that matter like love, hope, faith, integrity etc. can't be seen just like the person behind the words in the blog.

Love your cheery little bird on a branch full of blossoms. He's a welcome reminder that the frozen ground and stark trees always give way to the warmth and hope of spring.

Agreed. The inside is so important and so rarely do we get to see it in one another for so many reasons! But blogging allows that.

Lovely bird. I'm going to enjoy this series that you are doing a great deal!

shoot. i commented and then got an error statement so if they both come through, i am sorry for the repetition.
You (and Antoine) said it so perfectly. Blogging is something we choose to do and it is a place to show heart and artistry...and those show the truth in a person.

So true. Am really enjoying your bird painings, by the way. Do you get cardinals in florida? I think not, but I'm not sure. The female is so delicatly coloured and the male so powerful in his redness!

hi Ana! What a gorgeous bird... i love it as much as i love your words. Yes. So honest and raw. All artists must ask themselves this question at one point or another (why do i blog?). I'm just glad you do and glad i found you. i'm a new follower! xox

Wow your bird paintings are just awesome Anna. Whatever the reason for blogging, just keep doing it. You have a great blog. By the way, I have plenty of gigs for pictures so it's not that. I checked on it and other blogger's are having the same problem uploading from their computers. I can copy and paste a picture though. thx for the info.

It's so true! I've got to know people very well in Blogland but have only met one of them in real life. I'd seen lots of photos of her and I knew what her house would look like but to meet her for the first time felt very strange as I was in effect meeting a stranger but I knew so much about her. We are a meeting of the souls, that what we are!xx

First of all, these paintings are really special and I love the colors.

And yes, blog world brings you an opportunity to be yourself. To share what you wish. And people who don't really want to care go away. But they are here because they DO care -- about you and about the art you share. At least, I do!

Sometimes a blog can be like a small keyhole in which the world can peek and glimpse a bit of our souls.

Wonderful watercolor of the bird on a flowering branch. It always amazes me how watercolorist manage to tame and control their media. When I tried it in high school everything bled together, creating a muddy mess. :D

Hi Ana,
I'm with you, I've never been so ambitious about office jobs.. I think we're happier and better off in our lives being grateful instead of constant striving. I strived in collage to be something I was not and it made me miserable. I like this side of life much more.

Your birds are simply gorgeous.
