mission accomplished

I told you guys about the challenge we had for our holiday party this year. I am a human resources professional and I work for a company that makes bullet proof vests for our military and law enforcement. I am very proud of what we do. Everyday, we save lives of our service men and women.

But even more, I am proud of the men and women in my company. The majority of the people who work for us are immigrants. People who fled their countries for fear of being murdered by dictator governments, who fled hunger and poverty, and who were looking for a better future for their children. They are hard working people and without them, I would not have a job. We are one of the last standing manufacturing companies in this country. As federal contractors, regulated by Homeland Security, our manufacturing cannot be sent overseas.

This was a challenge. Not only because feeding over 1,000 people who speak at least 5 different languages is a challenge in itself, but because we have a new executive team. The 3 main languages spoken in our company are Spanish, Haitian Creole and Chinese. But we also have Korean, Portuguese, and Hindi.

We had to make sure everyone was organized, happy, and served. I had a group of over 50 office and management employees who volunteered to serve food to our factory workers and work as what I call "the line police."

We had a DJ.

And we had a Santa (sometimes a Naughty Santa at that!!!!!)

We had dancing. And boy, do they love to dance!!!

And we raffled gifts. But they had to show us some moves, before they got their prize!

And this was our amazing HR team. We were the "Holiday Chicks!"

My feet, my back, my legs, my neck and my hair hurt. But I feel amazing, remembering how much fun they had.

I apologize for not visiting you guys so often this week or this weekend. I will give myself a much deserved break and maybe an afternoon at the spa ;-) I will make up and look what you guys are up to soon.

Love you all!!! Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Holidays, Happy Day Off. I wish you all peace, love, tolerance, acceptance, friendship, and health!

Wow, wow, wow! This is so unbelievably wonderful -- and what a feat! It's tough to organize a party for 30 of your friends much less 1,000 people of varying languages and experiences. But they all had one thing in common (two, if you don't count work) -- they were ready to celebrate and share the joy! Kudos to you and your team! Wonderful!
