We are back!

First and foremost, I must say it is good to be back home! We had a wonderful time, but with a few setbacks :( 1. I got a cold and spent 2 days pretty much cooped up in the hotel room and 2. Shushu had to be taken to the emergency room because he developed a bloody stool (the runs) and vomiting, which I am attributing to emotional distress. He is doing well and was a bit depressed when we picked him up, but 1 hour after he got home and he was back to his old self :)

I will share the photos and my experience with you guys slowly, as to not bore you with my vacation tales.

Above is the view from our room. The street is bustling with people.Even though is not yet high tourist season in the city, we saw people from all around the world and Brazil.

The day is bright at 05:30 am and we could already see people running and exercising.

About a hundred feet from our hotel was this little street market that sold everything from local artisan's work to Brazilian nuts and cachaça (sugar cane liquor). There are street artists and street sellers galore. Haggling is an absolute must, as they will charge more to tourists (my husband was in heaven as he loves to haggle.)

BTW, I flew back and forth sans medication (or alcohol). Very happy, I did not completely freak out and even enjoyed the flight at times. I was uncomfortable a couple of times, but I must say I feel I conquered my phobia of flying!!!!!!!

Glad to be back, I missed you all.

I'm glad to hear that flying was not a big problem -- I was wondering how you were doing with that. I'm looking forward to more photos and tales of adventure. You probably caught the cold on the airplane -- all that recycled germy air -- tough break.

I found haggling quite challenging when in Mexico, it goes out of my comfort zone to haggle, but I learned!

So happy to hear about your flying was not really a big problem ... you should be so proud of yourself ... these things are hard to overcome and you did it!! Beautiful pictures....I hear Brazil is booming.

Happiness always,

You did it!! I'm very proud of you. I'm wondering how long the flight was - but it doesn't matter you handled it really bravely. Suppose I should put my big girl panties on too. Anyway it looks fascinating and I'm looking forward to more info on this most unusual holiday!

Oh, I'm sorry you were sick...that always feels unfair when it happens during a vacation. (And sorry Shu was sick as well, poor wee thing.)

I love the pictures you've shared already and am eager for more. Such fun. And I'm glad you did well flying! Go you!

Looks like the weather was gorgeous for you and that, all-in-all, it was a lovely vacation (even though you did have a slight bout with an annoying cold :( ).

Sorry that Shushu was distressed but happy to hear he's better now.

The Market looks wonderful, can only imagine how much fun it was to browse through all the many different stalls. Bet you brought back several great souvenirs along with many fantastic memories.
