Watercolor Delight

The beauties up here are my new watercolors. 24 of them to be more exact. What I never imagined is that the colors were going to be so vibrant, fluid and rich in pigment.

They are called Marie's watercolor and are a product of China. Not the Winsor Newton made in China type, but truly Chinese watercolors.

Some people hate them, some people love them. They are made for rice paper, but I found the colors to be very vibrant, moved easily on Western watercolor paper and a little bit goes a looooooong way. They are transparent and include white for a more opaque effect. They rewet easily and for the price, I have found them to be much better than some of the other options out there :)

On a second note, hubby and I are preparing to leave on vacation in 3 weeks!!!! More info to come :)

What beautiful colours; vibrant indeed! Can't wait to see what you create with them.

Oh vacation, do tell me you're heading north! Nonetheless, wherever you wander, have a wondersome time!

As for some people hating the colours, as Two Bear used to say: "Some people would kick if you hung 'em with a new rope."

The colors are indeed brilliant. I've never tried my hand at watercolors, it always seemed so intimidating working with such a wet medium that threatened to go where ever it wished. I was sure I would end up with a muddy mess like the pictures I once painted in kindergarten. So I leave it to the true watercolorists like you to give me glorious paintings to oh and ah over. :)

May you have a most wonderful and happy vacation. Enjoy. :)

If they are from China, better make sure their is no lead in it.

I'm going to look those up right now! I just can't paint without vibrance, and that has been one of my complaints about standard WCs! :)

That is quite a difference in the two products. I thought your work was becomeing more vibrant anyway so i think these will suit you really well! Can't wait to hear about your holiday!

Have a happy vacation !

A question I wanted to ask after reading your previous post, if you do not mind. Are you an INTP according to the myers-briggs test ?

Beautiful colors and it's a tough medium; I admire your talent, chica.
Enjoy the time away with your husband!

I've never heard of these, but they are gorgeous! I'll have to look for them next time I'm at Jerry's Art-a-Rama -- I just looked up the brand and it looks like it's available there. Thank you for sharing. xo

They look gorgeous, I might give them a try when I next run out. I use Schminke which are juicy and bright so it would be great to find another brand that is good too! I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Windsor and Newton watercolours, I find them very hard to get going and the colours too pale for me.

Vibrant colors. I don't know much about paint but I'd like to delve into that adventure one of these days. Vacation awesome! So happy for you and your husband! I love recharging and getting away. xoxo
