Artholics Anonymous

I got this wonderful Fabriano watercolor paper block. The great thing about it is that the pages are glued on all sides, which prevents paper warping and it dries flat.

The quality of the paper is amazing and I am having major fun with it.

But this fun is taking a toll with the amount of money I am spending on art supplies and feel I must confess: my name is Ana and I am an "artoholic".

Keep creating, but be warned: it is highly addictive!

It absolutely is... but it is the kind of additiction that brings women back to their soul! It renews them... if not their pocket books! Love the new painting! This butterfly is fabulous!

Lovely piece ... I know what you mean about art supplies ... I can't get anymore until some of my art sells. I do so miss creating and also shopping for "stuff" which I use in my mixed media, altered art pieces.

Love always,
Jan

This is really nice and the butterfly is so pretty! I am glad you're enjoying the watercolor block. I don't actually do watercolors but I did buy a block once to experiment with the paper. I could not get the hang of cutting off the top page! Arrrrgh! I found out later that particular brand or batch had been over-glued or something, but I don't think I'll be trying again. Way better stuff to spend my time on than fighting with art supplies. ;)

I totally understand that art-aholic thing! And thanks for stopping by my blog!

(...jotting down name of the paper, I prefer the blocks, although I'm literally just going back to watercolor after years-long break this week) I'm addicted too. Although, I get pretty good prices at Jerry's, I do tend to shop around and find the best deals (cheapjoes, etc.) It's how I justify it "I saved * much! I can totally get that other thing now..."

Nice butterfly!

So, why is Fabriano better?

'Artoholic..." Hahaha...too funny, Ana! But there are worse addictions, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just enjoy :)

It pays off for you because you use your medium well. Beautiful image, Ana...and I know it's addicting...but it's also therapy. :)

I know what you mean. I just had a picture framed and when I got it home I noticed that I hadn't measured very well. Now I have to take it back and get the picture taken out so I can fix it. MONEY!!! MONEY - I might as well just have thrown it out the window. such a dumb thing on my part. ARRRGG! Anyway, your pictures are so lovely I'm sure you realize the cost is worth it!!!

Funny how all hobbies and crafts can become so addictive . . . and very costly.
Your painting is beautiful and I marvel at the delicacy of the butterfly.

Beautiful painting Ana. What you've said is very very true. I love indulging in all art related things but have to keep myself restricted due to the cost. I'm yet to try this paper. I stick with the good old Strathmore, affordable and doable.

These are lovely! That color really pops. I think that would be a great pad with the four sides glued. except I'd probably peel it off as soon as I was done to start another so it would dry bent anyway!

Creating needs to be a major in college that one can study, obtain a degree and then get paid for. Creativity is such a sacred space that is a most, much like the basic necessities of life:)
