It was Friday when the mail brought me this beautiful book mark. It was made and given to me by Annette, from Annette's World. I think what was most touching about this little piece of mail was not its content, but the thought that went into it. As I opened the envelope, I was taken over by a deep sense of gratitude.
I was grateful the internet has brought so many kindred souls into my life and that I was able to share a little bit of their lives with them. I was even more thankful about the little note she hand wrote on the back of one of the little paintings she sent me for my art journal.
It got me thinking how I missed receiving mail, writing letters and receiving them. It brought me a little sadness that most kids being born today will never receive a letter, and how the magic of the written word- with ink and paper- is going away.
I feel thankful that I received many letters and for Annette, for reminding me that somehow we are all connected.

Such fine, beautiful artistic workings in this bookmark. And as you say the thoughts behind it are equally fine and beautiful.
I think there may still be time to save and revive the art of letter writing....beginning with each of us putting pen to paper and sending an envelop off sealed with best wishes and hopeful returns.
Oh Ana, this is so nice ... I am so glad I found you and your blog ... happy dreams of enchantment and magical musings.
Love to all,
Jan
I especially love the peas in the pods!
Oh Ana, that is very beautiful. I feel the same way --- kids are really missing out on the joy of writing and receiving letters.
The bookmark is so lovely...the kindness of friends is a beautiful thing! I agree, it's so sad that the written letter is becoming a thing of the past. It was always such a thrill for me to check the mailbox and find a letter...thanks for sharing your beautiful gift with us, Ana. :)
One of the most beautiful book marks that I have ever seen, one of a kind!
It is so easy to tap the keys, click the 'publish your comment button' and off it goes in an instant, your thought that is! All comments are very much appreciated, but to receive a letter, small gift even, this becomes the tangible form of 'love' which we all desire,.
I agree with Robin Larkspur, lets do it!!!x
What a gorgeous little gift. I agree with you re letters. The only kind I receive are connected to bills, and nothing is handwritten these days.
Beautiful....so delicate :) You re right! I haven't put too much thought into it but I can't remember the last letter I received in the mail! Maybe I should begin surprising people and start writing again!
Oh Ana I am so glad the bookmark got there safe and sound. You are right letters are almost a thing of the past. So pleased you liked it I am fixin to send you another little care package this week. Have to recoup for helping grandkids move into a house, I think our bodies are saying what did you do to me?
Hugs again
Annette
what a beautiful bookmark - so much detail! I agree about letters. My mother-in-law is a big letter writer, as is everyone on my husband's side. So our kids do write and get letters often. It is still magical to open the mailbox and have something addressed just to you. Who doesn't love that!
Oh... such a wonderful gift, it´s a beautiful bookmark. I´ve written lots of letter and have received so many of them, but now I only receive bills. We should start a swap and exchange letter and tiny gifts like that, I would be wonderful
Zena I really like this idea!! I will do more research and propose something!
Maravilha de página e quem fica feliz sou eu com a qualidade. Abraço
Oh that is truly a beautiful bookmark Annette is very talented.
I love letters coming in the mail, I do hope that it does not disappear. B
Lovely post and how blessed you are to have received the exquisite bookmark ~ you are a treasure ~ (A Creative Harbor)
That is a tiny work of art, beautiful!
I like the idea of writing actual letters; please count me in! (and forgive the Parkinsonian handwriting, lol.)
Thank you for your kind comment Ana; all will be well and all will be well..... *hugs*
Ana, I am in awe of your beautiful blog - your photos, your writing. I'm so so glad I found you. It's impossible for me not to follow. :-)
I do miss the excitement that receiving snail mail brings and how snail mails are more personalized and how seeing the sender's handwriting makes you feel his (her) presence. :-)
Mmm, the good old days. I used to have a lot of pen pals growing up but not so much anymore. I've recently revived the tradition though. At least having one person to write to is better than just getting bills or nothing in the mail.
Oh, your handmade bookmark is stunning! I still create handmade cards and mail them to people. I agree that it is a different world today and kids may never get to experience the little things like opening a handwritten letter. Enjoy your week.
the bookmark is absolutely beautiful!! and there is certain thrill when something arrives in the mail with your name on it (and it is not a bill or junk mail ;))...as i kid i probably asked almost every day hoping that something would arrive for me. it is a little sad to think that is disappearing and that kids today will not have that experience.
It's nice to see someone's handwriting.
It's been a while since I wrote and snail mailed a letter. I usually send a short card with money to recent graduates, but otherwise I email my letters, mainly because my handwriting is atrocious.
What a beautiful post. I love that she took the time to create such a pretty bookmark and of course, the written word, pen to paper, when it comes like that from a friend is a treasure. I saved a lot of my old letters and I still have my first LOVE LETTER, believe it or not. So funny and sweet.
Cute and romantic. Perfect to mark a classic, somethikng by Jane Austen or the Bronte sisters. I often think about not receiving real mails anymore. Me and my cousin used to write each other all the time, and now it's just emails and text messages. It was so nice to come home and see something in the mailbox that wasn't bill. Nowadays it's all I get on paper...sad!!
I love mail art. :) I'm always excited when I see a letter or a parcel for me. Bookmark is gorgeous!
Happy mail :)
Gorgeous bookmark.... I understand your sadness about kids today not receiving letters.
Karenx
That is one exquisite little bookmark! I'm very old school too and I love receiving hand-written letters, photos etc, especially now that I live abroad.
Thank you for stopping by! I'm pretty much low-maintenance too but love the concept of contouring for events/photoshoots and movies! It does sound like hard work though, who has that long in the day to get ready for work each morning?! :)
the bookmark is BEAUTIFUL. I love all the details on it. I must go check out her blog! :)

Thank you for being such a devoted follower! It's so nice to know you are 'out there' and i'm glad to find a new friend and kindred spirit.
