a day of creation

Today is a day of creation & discovery. Doing something for the first time has the exhilarating feeling of discovering fire. Stamp carving is something I always wanted to try.

Shushu, however, didn't seem as enthusiastic about the new supplies as I was. I think he was hoping for something more... edible.

I found this wonderful Fabriano watercolor postcards. I can't wait to create one-of-a-kind post cards.

Shushu is wishing you all an amazing weekend!

Curious to see what you create. I bet it'll be beautiful as everything is that you create. I'll buy some of your one-of-a-kind postcards. Shushu is adorable!

BTW, Thanks for bringing me back:) It's been a crazy couple of weeks. xoxo

I agree with you, Ana. Discovering and then trying something new - be it a new technique, a new medium, a new craft, or even a new paintbrush or canvas is definitely an exhilarating and exciting feeling.

I love it whenever I try something that I've been a bit 'angsty' about trying, but then finally summoned up the courage and taking the plunge and just going for it, and to have it exceed what I'd actually hoped would be the outcome. Woo-hoo!

Looking forward to seeing your newest creative journeys with the stamp carving and with the new watercolour paper.

As for your Shushu, he is adorable! Maybe he wants the first watercolour you on this paper to be a 'study' of his lovely adorable self. So sweet!

I had a set of Speedball carving tools about a million years ago when I was trying my hand at making lino prints. Looking forward to seeing your handiwork!

I love carving stamps - enjoy, Ana! I used to be able to find large, rectangular rubber erasers at the dollar store that were perfect for carving. A very cheap way to experiment and play! I look forward to seeing your results...I hope you'll share photos with us. :)

Shushu is obviously a great appreciator of fine art! He just has the nose for it, I think. I know the feeling. It is so exciting to sit down at a fresh piece of paper and anticipate what will happen. Looking forward to your work!

I have some pre-made traditional Indian wooden stamp/blocks with traditional designs on them and I smear fabric paint on them to create impressions of flowers on cushions and napkins in this way. Since there are already some designs imprinted on them, I have no scope to make something of my own, yet I mix and match them to create some nice effects. It would be better to call them block printing rather than stamp printing though. All the best for your new and exciting venture- I am as excited as you !

THis sounds sooo fun!

And hi Shushu! You're a cutie!

I love the fact that they make watercolour paper in the size of postcards and that's actually part of something I'm planning on doing in the future. So yay about that paper!

What a lovely assistant Shushu is, even though she is less than enthusiastc.
I have a bird that goes CRAZY when I get out my paints! He wants to chew on the end of the brushes and watch the swirls of color go 'round and round! Can't wait to see what you have carved!

My hubby cringes when I go into an art store or a craft and hobby shop. He knows I will always find something new that I want to try. :D

Hi! So glad you visited and left me a comment so I could come visit! I've never tried carving stamps, but it dos look like fun! Shushu is adorable... Looks kind of like my Fred, but he's grey. Dani looks very content in her refuge. Fred is a rescue (and also has a dandruff problem). Your home doesn't look at all like a bach pad to me. Love the bright colors against the white furniture. And those water colors! They are beautiful! I've been working on painting a bit more freely... not being so hung up on perfection. By-the-way... I'm with you... goals can be overated and most definitely limiting! I'm putting you on my blog list, so I'll be back!
