Isaac Increases Boredom

As you know, being in South Florida has put me right on the path for Hurricane Isaac. Things don't look overly scary. It's been raining a lot and we have been cooped up in the house almost the whole day.

I think it is the boredom, but all of a sudden I have this desire to redecorate. Now, if you had known me for a while, you would know I am not the most domestic person. Aside from 2 pictures on the wall, 2 bookshelves, 2 vases and taking over the coffee table with my art supplies, the place looks pretty much the bachelor pad I moved into when my husband and I got married. With the rain, I think I am freaking Martha Stewart.

I am completely in love with these two pieces of furniture from Crate & Barrel. The idea is great because the furniture is comfortable and clean, not so advisable because I have two furry friends who love to sleep on the couch and Crate & Barrel is not the cheapest place in the world.

This little domestic inspiration will last just as long as this bad weather. It is fleeting, I still have to go to work tomorrow, and I am too frugal to spend this kind of money. I swear that being locked in the whole day is starting to affect my judgement...

Hope your weather doesn't get too bad down there! Love the furniture too, I think your two furry doggies would love it! My kitties love their ottoman!

Ana, I hope your weather doesn't get too bad, and I certainly hope whatever bad weather you're having passes quickly. That being said, I know exactly how you feel! And I have to tell you that you'd go crazy up where I live because we get stuck indoors A LOT during the worst parts of winter. Do I get the decorating itch? You bet I do. Big time. Until the spring arrives. Then I abandon that ship and spend more time outdoors. I absolutely love that first image, and I know I would enjoy a room like that. Save for the white couches. My cats would fill them up with dark fur and maybe even scratch them up. In theory, everything looks perfect in my house. In reality, not so much :)

It's always dangerous to look online or in decorating catalogs, isn't it?

White furniture is so beautiful and fabulous in theory, but in practice . . . . ??? I'd be scared to sit on it in case I spilled something.

Agree with Debra. And, for sure, I'd spill something on it.

Ha... amazing what the rain can do... they are beautiful pieces Ana... so fresh and inviting... even if not the most practical color...

Beautiful looking furniture, but I could never risk that colour because my little dog's mucky paws would be all over it. Not to mention my cat using it as a scratching post!

Beautiful decor inspiration ! I love white sheets and white furniture. I also love decorating my space and do it often. I use white sheets, cushions, tablecloth, etc. in my home. I have acquired this love for white from my Grandma.

I could never have such pristine white furniture...I can't walk across a room with a cup of coffee without spilling. But I know what you mean...photos of these gorgeous rooms do inspire the whimsy of making changes.

Keep safe and sound in the storm!!

How absolutely lovely. I find myself waiting for the storm as well although it has shifted to the west a bit and I live 250 miles inland, it still can do a lot of damage. I have been through quite a few when I lived in Pensacola. At least you had some fun looking at your furniture. xo

Ana, stay safe.

So boredom is bringing on the re-decorating bug? Might I suggest slipcovers? Or, better yet...going on a reading binge? =)

I hope the storm whooshes by without too much damage! Is this early for hurricane season? I love the look of white, but could never pull it off. My sofa is brown. I want to paint my livingroom / diningroom in Sept once the heat eases off... I'm thinking yellow, because my house is dark. I tried neutral grownup colours but think I'll revert to brightness. Take care! Lois

I think about you whenever we see the news about the hurricane! Hope it just says hello and keeps on moving. Anyway if i had to be trapped somewhere in a hurricane I would hope its as lovely as your home!

Don't buy the expensive furniture. Find a couple of old couches that have roughly the same look, similar shape, silhouette, etc. It doesn't matter what color or patter because they will be covered with a fitted slip cover in white. With a little work and less money you can have furniture similar to those in the pictures that will not cause you to have an aneurism if your cats shed and/or claw at them.

Ikea has some couches that look a little like those! I think they're from the Ektorp series. Super comfy!

that is hilarious!....i hope the weather isn't too bad, but, i do think that being cooped up in the house too long has that effect on people. i get that same effect with snow here....

I love the look of this white furniture but I know from experience they don't stay looking like that for long, unless of course no-one sits on them! ;)
I hope you're ok there, it must be scary.
Sending happy decorating thoughts...:)

I'm always in the mood to redecorate. Always. Being broke i can't do but little things here and there, but I always dream for a big massive redecoration. One day it will happen!

Hope the weather doesn´t get too bad... your post made me smile, this happens to me mainly along vacation, and it gets worse if I watch tv shows or read decor magazines or blogs... indeed in my vocabulary vactions and home changes are synonyms
